Nagpur: Imamwada police arrested a 19-year-old youth for allegedly robbing a Chinese food stall owner at knifepoint near Medical Square late on September 13.
According to police, complainant Dinesh Rajesh Shahu (23), a resident of Bajrang Nagar, was at his roadside eatery opposite VR Mall around 10:45 pm when two men on a motorcycle approached. Brandishing a knife, they hurled abuses and demanded a weekly “hafta” of ₹5,000, warning that he could not run his business otherwise. When Shahu refused, one assailant threatened to kill him while the other forcibly grabbed ₹2,000 from the shop’s cash counter before fleeing.
Acting swiftly on Shahu’s description, Imamwada police traced and detained prime accused Jai Satish Suryawanshi (19) of Chandan Nagar along with a juvenile accomplice. During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime. Officers recovered a knife, the stolen cash of ₹2,000, and the Splendor Plus motorcycle used in the offence, valued in total at ₹42,000.
