Nagpur Crime Branch Solves MIDC Vehicle Theft; Two Held, Property Seized

Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit No. 1 of Nagpur City Police has cracked a vehicle theft case registered at MIDC Police Station, arresting two accused and seizing stolen property worth ₹1.15 lakh.


The theft occurred between 12.30 pm and 1 pm on December 25, 2025, near St. Xavier’s School in Bansi Nagar, Hingna Road. Complainant Sakshi Gautam Manwar (22), a resident of Anand Nagar, Wanadongri, had parked her Dio moped (MH-31-CT-5008), valued at ₹35,000, when it was stolen by an unidentified person.


During parallel investigation and patrolling, police detained Shantanu Bhimrao Somkunwar (24) of Patankar Chowk, Jaripatka. On interrogation, he confessed to committing the theft with Suraj Subhash Dhurve (26) of Indora Math Mohalla, Jaripatka.


Police recovered the stolen moped and a Burgman scooter (MH-49-BF-7257) worth ₹80,000 used in the crime. Further probe is underway.
