Nagpur Crime Branch Seizes 148 Banned Nylon Manja Spools in Gittikhadan Raid, Two Booked

Nagpur: A Crime Branch Unit-4 team seized a large stock of banned nylon manja during a raid in Gittikhadan jurisdiction following a confirmed tip-off received during routine patrolling on November 17.


Acting on the information, officers raided the residence of Aman Khan Akbar Khan (22), a resident of IBM Road, Vishwas Nagar near Shiv Mandir. The team recovered 148 spools of mono kite nylon manja, which is prohibited due to its hazardous impact on humans, animals, and birds.


During questioning, the accused revealed that he had procured the material for sale with the help of his accomplice, identified as absconding accused Irshad Khan Firoz Khan (25), a resident of Gittikhadan. The seized material, valued at ₹1,48,000, was confiscated on the spot.


Police registered an offence under Section 223 of the BNS along with Sections 5 and 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, at Gittikhadan Police Station. The arrested accused, along with the seized material, has been handed over to local police for further investigation, while efforts are underway to trace the absconding aide.


The operation was carried out under the supervision of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Mankikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhijit Patil.
