Nagpur: Nagpur Police’s Crime Branch Unit 5 has cracked a burglary and vehicle theft racket, arresting two accused and solving three cases, including a break-in at a bar and multiple vehicle thefts.

The case came to light after a complaint by Dineshsingh Laxmansingh Maurya (52), a resident of Satnami Nagar, Lakadganj, who owns ‘Darpan Bar and Restaurant’ in Shivaji Nagar under Koradi Police Station limits. Between 11:30 pm on March 15 and 7:00 am on March 16, unidentified thieves broke open the shutter of the bar, entered the premises, and stole ₹2,000 in cash along with foreign liquor bottles worth ₹34,720.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Koradi Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unknown persons.

During the investigation, Crime Branch officials used technical analysis and intelligence inputs to detain one minor and two accused identified as Vineet Kailas Ingle (21) and Sumit Ganpat Meshram (18), both residents of Takshashila Nagar in Kapil Nagar. They were caught along with two stolen two-wheelers.

During questioning, the accused confessed to committing the bar burglary along with the minor. Further interrogation revealed their involvement in two additional vehicle theft cases under Jaripatka and Tehsil police station limits, taking the total number of detected cases to three.

Police records also revealed that one of the accused was already wanted in multiple vehicle theft and other criminal cases registered at different police stations in Nagpur.

Stolen property, including foreign liquor, a Honda Activa (MH 40 AY 6808), and a Bajaj Pulsar 220 (MH 32 AN 9911), collectively worth ₹1,00,560, has been recovered.

The accused and the minor have been handed over to Koradi Police for further legal action. Further investigation is underway.
