Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 5 of Nagpur City Police arrested a wanted accused involved in a house-breaking case registered in Gondia district after receiving a tip-off about his presence in Nagpur.
According to police, the burglary took place between 8 pm on May 15 and 3 am on May 16 in the Civil Lines area near the BSNL office under the jurisdiction of Gondia City Police. Acting on secret information that the accused had arrived in Nagpur, Crime Branch officials laid a trap near Amna Masjid in Kamgar Nagar, Kamptee.
The accused, identified as Sheikh Jafar Sheikh Muzaffar (45), a resident of Kamgar Nagar, was detained and questioned. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to committing the house-breaking offence in Gondia.
Police later handed over the accused to Gondia City Police for further investigation and legal action. Further probe is underway.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar and Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhijeet Patil. The team included Police Inspector Vinayak Golhe and other Crime Branch personnel.
