Nagpur: An Aapli Bus narrowly escaped a major tragedy after an unidentified tipper truck rammed into it at Panchsheel Square on Monday morning, leaving the conductor seriously injured and causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

According to the incident report, the accident took place around 7 am when bus number MH40DC2602, an EKA Electric standard bus attached to Khapari Naka 1 depot, was travelling from Khapari Depot towards Aapli Bus Terminal on scheduled duty number 286E/01.

Officials said the unidentified tipper truck allegedly hit the right front side of the moving bus before fleeing the scene. The impact damaged the front portion of the bus, the right-side body panel and the front windshield.

The injured conductor has been identified as Sapna Motghare, who suffered serious injuries in the accident and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. The bus driver, Tanveer Ahmad, also sustained injuries in the collision.

At the time of the accident, around four passengers were travelling in the bus. Fortunately, none of the passengers suffered injuries, officials confirmed.

Following the incident, the driver lodged a complaint with the police against the unidentified truck driver. Police have launched a search for the absconding vehicle and are examining CCTV footage from the Panchsheel Square area to trace the accused driver.

The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving by heavy vehicles on busy city roads during peak morning hours.
