Nagpur: A fraud case has been registered at Sonegaon Police Station after a 27-year-old cricketer from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, was allegedly cheated of over ₹20 lakh with false promises of securing a place in the Ranji Trophy.

The complainant came across cricket-related videos on Instagram posted by the accused, identified as Kazi Zishan Ahmed, a resident of Anant Nagar, Katol Road, Nagpur. The accused claimed to be a coach at a sports academy in MIHAN, Nagpur.

Between November 8, 2023, and October 6, 2024, the complainant met the accused at the academy premises in Khapri, MIHAN. The accused gained his trust and promised him an opportunity to play in the Ranji Trophy.
