Nagpur, March 3: In a crackdown on illegal liquor sale during Holi, observed as ‘No Liquor Day’, MIDC Police Station in Nagpur seized 283 bottles of illicit liquor worth ₹12,960 from Sangharsh Nagar area.
According to police officials, the action was conducted on March 3 as part of intensified enforcement against unlawful sale and distribution of alcohol on the dry day. The accused, identified as Shyamrao R. Vimalkar, was allegedly found selling liquor without a valid permit in violation of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
Police have registered an offence against the accused under Section 65(B) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The seized stock has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The action was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) S. Rushikesh Reddy, Nagpur City, as part of special drives to ensure strict compliance with dry day regulations during Holi celebrations. Police officials reiterated that stringent action will continue against those attempting to flout prohibition laws.
