Nagpur: The MIDC Police arrested an externed accused during a patrol near Digdoh cremation ground on March 16.

According to police, the incident occurred between 2:45 pm and 3:15 pm when a patrol team noticed a man behaving suspiciously. When questioned, he attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended by the police team.

The accused has been identified as Abhinay alias Dawood Ukandarao Somkunwar (24), a resident of Trimurti Nagar, NIT Layout, Rana Pratap Nagar, Nagpur.

During verification, police found that he had been externed from Nagpur city and rural areas for two years under an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) dated November 12, 2024.

Despite the externment order, the accused was found within city limits without permission, allegedly with the intention of committing a crime.

Based on a complaint filed by Police Constable Nilesh Dube, MIDC Police have registered a case under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act and arrested the accused.

Further investigation is underway.
