Nagpur: In a bid to strengthen last-mile connectivity for daily commuters, Maha Metro is working closely with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to introduce a dedicated feeder bus service. The proposed route is expected to provide direct connectivity from Kasturchand Park Metro Station to Government-run offices.
The offices or departments likely to be covered are Police Headquarters, CAG Office, High Court, Chief Minister’s Office, Divisional Commissioner’s Office, District Court, Samaj Kalyan Office, NMC Civil Lines Office, Reserve Bank of India, Van Bhawan, Government Press, Vidhan Bhawan, and GST Central and State Offices.
By addressing first- and last-mile connectivity challenges, Maha Metro aims to enhance ridership, reduce traffic congestion, and promote sustainable urban mobility in Nagpur. The proposed feeder route is currently under review, and feedback from stakeholders gathered through Metro Samwads will play a critical role in its finalization.
The need to use Metro has been repeatedly reiterated at various platforms, through Metro Samwaad. Recently, as part of this outreach programme, Maha Metro held Metro Samwaad at the State GST Office in Civil Lines. Additional Commissioner of State Tax for Nagpur Zone, Shri Tejrao Pacharne, Joint Commissioners of State Tax, Dr. Sanjay Kandhare and Shri Rajendra Masram were present for the samwad and they encouraged their employees to use metro.
The State GST Office, located approximately 1.8 km from the Kasturchand Park Metro Station, represents one of several crucial government institutions in the Civil Lines and Sadar areas that are currently underserved by public transport links from the metro network. Officials highlighted the importance of conducting more such Samwads with other government offices to ensure the proposed feeder service aligns with commuter needs.
Encouraging government employees to adopt public transport for daily travel is a key objective of the initiative. The move is also expected to benefit citizens who frequently visit these offices, by offering them seamless access from the metro to their destinations.
