Man Arrested in Jaripatka for Selling Banned Scented Tobacco

Nagpur: The Social Security Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Crime Branch has arrested a man for allegedly possessing and selling banned scented tobacco products in the Jaripatka area.


The action was taken on March 11 around 5:33 PM as part of the police initiative “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite for a Drug-Free Society.” The campaign focuses on taking action against those involved in the sale and consumption of prohibited intoxicating substances.


Acting on a tip-off, officials raided a residence in Motha Indora, Bhim Chowk, Jaripatka and caught the accused identified as Swapnil Chandrashekhar Shende (36).


During the search, police recovered several banned tobacco products including Rajnigandha Pan Masala, Vimal Pan Masala, V-One scented tobacco and Baba 120 tobacco.


The total value of the seized material is estimated at ₹27,750.


Based on a complaint filed by Food Safety Officer Amarnath Yadav Sonatakke, a case has been registered at Jaripatka Police Station under Sections 123, 223, 274, 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 59 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.


Police have arrested the accused and further investigation is underway.
