Nagpur: Lakadganj Police arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly carrying a sharp-edged knife in a public place in the Gangajamuna locality of Nagpur in the early hours of Friday.
According to police, at around 3.45 am on June 27, 2026, a Lakadganj Police patrol team received information that a man wearing a light sky-blue shirt and blue jeans was roaming in the Gangajamuna settlement, behind Lata Maundekar’s house, while carrying a weapon.
The police searched the area and spotted a man matching the description. On seeing the police, the suspect attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended.
During questioning, he identified himself as Nikhil alias Dadya Prakash Meshram (32), a resident of Hivari Nagar, near Prashant School, Nandanvan, Nagpur.
As the accused gave evasive replies regarding his presence in the area, police conducted a search and recovered a sharp iron knife worth approximately ₹200 from his possession. The weapon was seized.
Police said the accused was allegedly carrying the knife with the intention of committing a cognisable offence and had also violated prohibitory orders.
A case has been registered under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
