Khurana Travels Bus Crashes Into Metro Employee’s Car on Wardha Road, Driver Flees After Accident

Nagpur: A Maharashtra Metro Rail employee sustained serious injuries after a speeding Khurana Travels bus allegedly rammed into his car on Wardha Road under the Beltarodi police station limits late Wednesday night. The bus driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle, prompting police to launch a search operation.


The injured, identified as Arvind Tukaram Hargude (33), works as a Technician-II with Maharashtra Metro Rail. According to police, the accident took place around 10.45 pm on June 3 near Mahesh Dhaba on the busy Wardha Road stretch.


Hargude was reportedly heading to work in his car when he attempted to take a U-turn. At the same time, a Khurana Travels bus allegedly being driven at high speed and in a reckless manner crashed into the rear of his vehicle. Investigators said the bus driver neither sounded the horn nor gave any indication before the collision.


The impact was severe, leaving the car extensively damaged and dragging it for a considerable distance. Passersby and local residents rushed to the spot and rescued Hargude from the mangled vehicle.


He was initially taken to AIIMS Nagpur for emergency treatment and later shifted to a private hospital near Railway Station Road, where he continues to undergo treatment.


Following a complaint lodged by the victim, Beltarodi Police registered a case against the absconding bus driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 281, 125(A), 125(B), and 324(4), as well as Sections 134 and 197 of the Motor Vehicles Act.


Police have seized the bus and are working to trace and apprehend the driver who fled immediately after the accident.
