Nagpur: Ranapratap Nagar Police arrested an externed criminal who was allegedly found roaming within Nagpur city limits in violation of an externment order.
According to police, a patrol team spotted a suspicious man near Queen Bar in Trimurti Nagar at around 12.15 am on June 5. Upon noticing the police, the man attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended.
The accused was identified as Rahul Dhanraj Hatibend (30), a resident of Kamgar Nagar in Subhash Nagar. During verification of his criminal record, police found that he had been externed from both Nagpur city and rural areas for two years under an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-I, on November 28, 2024.
Police said the accused had entered the prohibited area without obtaining prior permission and was allegedly present with the intention of committing an offence. A case was registered against him under Sections 142 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act on a complaint filed by Police Constable Ankush Kanojiya.
The accused has been arrested and further investigation is in progress.
