Nagpur: The India vs England ODI match at VCA Stadium, Jamtha, on Thursday, February 6, witnessed impeccable security and traffic management by the Nagpur Traffic Police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Archit Chandak. Unlike previous matches where Wardha Road faced hours-long traffic congestion, this time the traffic flow was seamless, thanks to meticulous planning and flawless execution by Chandak and his team.
Being a Nagpur-native turned IPS officer, Chandak was well aware of the long-standing traffic woes on Wardha Road during major events. Leveraging this insight, he crafted a comprehensive traffic management plan, which included disciplined parking arrangements, strategic traffic diversions, and the deployment of personnel at key junctions.
Chandak personally supervised operations at Jamtha, arriving early in the morning and staying until late at night to ensure smooth traffic movement. Over 2,000 police personnel were deployed to manage the crowd and traffic around the stadium. Special attention was given to guiding vehicles into designated parking spaces and preventing haphazard parking, which had been a significant cause of congestion in the past.
Despite thousands of spectators exiting the stadium simultaneously after the match, traffic flow remained largely under control. While there was a brief slowdown on Wardha Road, the congestion was quickly cleared without any major delays.
Citizens and cricket enthusiasts widely appreciated the efforts of the Nagpur Police and DCP Chandak, acknowledging their dedication and effective management in ensuring a hassle-free experience for all attendees.
