Nagpur: A theft of ₹5 lakh has been reported from a rented house in the Ambazari area of Nagpur. Police have registered a case against an unknown accused.

The complainant, Ritika Rakesh Jaiswal (26), originally from Yavatmal and currently residing in Ram Nagar, Ambazari, works as a design manager at a private firm. She was living in the rented accommodation with her friend.

According to her complaint, she had kept ₹5 lakh in cash inside a locker in a wooden cupboard. When she checked the locker around 12:10 am on March 15, the cash was missing.

Police suspect the theft took place between 10:00 am on March 13 and 12:10 am on March 15, when an unidentified person stole the cash.

Based on the complaint, Ambazari Police have registered a case under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A search has been launched for the accused, and further investigation is underway.
