Nagpur: Burglars targeted a locked house in Sai Nagar, Dighori under Gittikhadan police limits, decamping with gold ornaments and cash collectively worth ₹2 lakh while the family was away in Hyderabad.

Police said that between October 23 and October 27, complainant Giridhar Vamanrao Gajbhiyye (57) had locked his residence in Mangal Murti Layout before travelling to visit his son. During this period, unidentified thieves broke open the main door lock and entered the house. They stole ₹1 lakh in cash and gold jewellery worth ₹1 lakh kept inside a bedroom cupboard.

Following a complaint filed by Gajbhiyye, PSI Rathod of Gittikhadan Police Station registered a case under Sections 454, 457, and 380 of the BNS against unidentified accused persons.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the burglars and recover the stolen valuables.
