Hingna Police Raid Illegal Gambling Den; Nine Arrested With Cash and Phones

Nagpur: Hingna Police carried out a successful raid late Friday night after receiving a confirmed tip-off about illegal card gambling taking place in an open farmland area along the Kanholi Bara–Chawki village road.


Acting swiftly, the police team reached the spot around 9:50 PM on February 16, 2026, and found nine individuals actively engaged in betting with playing cards.


The arrested accused have been identified as Gangadhar Yashwant Shendere (56), Sunil Madhukar Savarkar (39), Ganesh Vinayak Sonatakke (39), Karan Vinod Gawai (22), Rohit Suresh Narayane (21), Pawan Prafull Kangale (22), Avinash Shravanji Gurnule (26), Vivek Babanrao Patankar (40), and Gajanan Balaji Dudhawade (40).


Police seized ₹12,700 in cash, five Android mobile phones, playing cards, and other gambling material, collectively valued at ₹63,225. A case has been registered at Hingna Police Station under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act. The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officers including Additional CP Shivajirao Rathod, DCP Rishikesh Singareddy, and ACP Satishkumar Gurav.


Further investigation is underway.
