Nagpur: Ajni Police have registered a case against five accused for allegedly cheating a man and his acquaintance of Rs 25 lakh on the pretext of providing a job in the railway department.
The complainant, Anupam Rajgupta Meshram (42), a resident of Haridas Nagar, Lashkaribagh, came into contact with the main accused Pradeep Venkatrao Bhoir while working in a private company.
The accused claimed to have strong connections with senior railway officials and promised to secure a job. He later introduced Meshram to co-accused Ajay Kavduji Bhoir at his residence in Ajni.
Between July 27, 2023, and April 10, 2026, the accused, along with accomplices Karuna Chaudhary, Rahul Shende, and Madhukar Uke, allegedly conspired to defraud the complainant. They collected Rs 10 lakh from Meshram and Rs 15 lakh from a woman acquaintance, Vaishnavi Ghatode.
To gain trust, the accused even provided a fake appointment letter and conducted a medical examination, but failed to provide any job. When the victims demanded a refund, they were allegedly threatened with death.
