Nagpur: A 63-year-old retired man was robbed of his 10-gram gold chain worth ₹40,000 after an unidentified man posing as a parcel delivery agent tricked him into opening the door at his residence in Ajni on Wednesday.
According to Ajni Police, the incident occurred at around 12.30 pm on August 5 at Flat No. 301, Shila Residency, Plot No. 23, Bhagwan Nagar.
The complainant, Sadanand Kamble (63) a retired resident, was at home when an unknown man rang the doorbell and claimed that he had come to deliver a parcel for the complainant’s son. Suspicious, the victim immediately contacted his son, who informed him that he had not ordered any parcel.
While the complainant was checking the address on the package handed over by the suspect, the accused suddenly snatched the victim’s 10-gram gold chain worth approximately ₹40,000 from his neck and fled from the spot.
Based on the victim’s complaint, Ajni Police have registered a case against the unidentified accused under Section 304(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for robbery/snatching. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and have launched a search to identify and apprehend the accused.
