Externed Criminal Arrested in Kamptee for Violating Ban Order, Police Launch Investigation

Nagpur: New Kamptee Police have arrested an externed criminal who was found within the prohibited limits of Nagpur city and district in violation of an official externment order.


The arrest was made on the morning of June 2 after police received specific information regarding the presence of a suspect at Jaystambh Chowk in Kamptee.


According to police, officers spotted a man matching the description provided by informants. Upon noticing the police team, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended.


The accused was identified as Sheikh Salman alias Abbu Sheikh Hussain (28), a resident of Chitranjan Nagar near Abdul Shah Dargah in Kamptee, Nagpur district.


Verification of police records revealed that the accused had been externed from both Nagpur city and rural areas under Externment Order No. 07/2026 issued on April 22, 2026, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 6.


Police said the accused had entered the restricted area without obtaining the mandatory permission from authorities. He was allegedly found roaming within the jurisdiction despite the active externment order, raising suspicions that he may have intended to commit a criminal offence.


A case has been registered against him under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act for violating the externment order. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.


Officials said strict action will continue against habitual offenders who violate externment orders and threaten public safety.
