Nagpur: The MIDC police have arrested a 27-year-old man for violating externment orders and entering the restricted area without official permission. Around 5:30 pm on Thursday, the MIDC police patrol team received a tip-off that a known externed person was spotted roaming near the Tata Workshop in the MIDC area.
Acting on the information, the team rushed to the location, where the suspect attempted to flee upon seeing the police but was caught after a brief chase.
Upon interrogation, he identified himself as Pritam alias Sinnu Umashankar Sharma, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Ashok Chowk, Wadi, Nagpur. A background check revealed that the accused had been externed from both Nagpur city and rural areas for two years by an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1, under order no. 1/2024 dated November 12, 2024.
Since he re-entered the MIDC police jurisdiction without prior permission, he was charged under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act and placed under arrest. Further investigation is underway.
