Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, the New Kamptee Police registered a case against eight individuals for allegedly gambling with cash stakes at a dairy premises in Kamptee on Sunday evening.
At around 6.50 pm on March 29, 2026, the detection team of New Kamptee Police conducted a raid at Dadaji Dairy owned by Raja Yadav on Pawangaon Road. Upon reaching the spot, police noticed a man keeping watch outside who attempted to alert others inside. He was detained, and officers entered the premises.
Inside, seven individuals were found playing cards and betting money. The accused have been identified as Mahesh Dawani (38), Kapil Yadav (40), Kameshwar Shrivastava (52), Yogesh Yadav (46), Sudarshan Patil (35), Sumit Mahalle (23), and Sushil Bichpuriya (57), all residents of Kamptee. The lookout was identified as Sheikh Gulab Sheikh Anwar (45), also a resident of Kamptee.
Police seized cash amounting to Rs 35,800 along with 52 playing cards, taking the total value of confiscated material to Rs 35,830. During questioning, the accused informed police that the premises owner Raja Yadav had fled the scene.
A case has been registered at New Kamptee Police Station under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding property owner.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of senior officers of Zone 6 and the Kamptee Division, with the local police team executing the operation.
