Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Chain Snatching Unit of Nagpur Police has successfully arrested three accused involved in a robbery targeting an elderly woman.
The incident occurred on April 6, 2026, when 83-year-old Parvatibai Dayal Pati was returning home from a hospital visit. She boarded an auto-rickshaw after the driver assured her he was heading toward Rameshwari. Two women were already seated inside.
However, the driver diverted the route, raising suspicion. When the victim protested, the vehicle stopped near a school in the Imamwada police jurisdiction. As she attempted to get down, one of the women forcibly snatched her gold necklace (29 beads) worth ₹10,000 and fled.
Based on the complaint, Nagpur Police registered a case against unidentified accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Following a parallel investigation using technical analysis and credible intelligence, the Crime Branch team identified and apprehended three suspects:
- Krishna Kallu Jatav (24)
- Shivani Krishna Jatav (22)
- Katrina Yusuf Thomas (22)
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. Police also seized the e-rickshaw (MH 49 CF 3154) used in the robbery, valued at ₹1,00,000.
The accused have been handed over to Imamwada Police Station for further legal action, and the investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officials including Rahul Makanikar and Abhijit Patil, with key efforts from Inspector Mangala Harde and the Anti-Chain Snatching Squad.
