Nagpur: A 40-year-old man, who was reportedly living alone after the death of his mother, allegedly died by suicide by hanging in the Pachpaoli area of Nagpur.
The deceased has been identified as Roshan Shripad Dongre (40). According to police, he lived alone in a hut near the Railway Quarters at Motibagh Matatoli under the jurisdiction of Pachpaoli Police Station. Neighbours told police that Dongre had been struggling since his mother’s death, had no close relatives to support him, was unemployed, and had developed a habit of consuming alcohol.
Police said Dongre allegedly hanged himself using an orange nylon rope inside his residence. He was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead.
The incident came to light after a neighbour informed the police. Based on the statement of the complainant, Pachpaoli Police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
While neighbours believe the deceased was deeply affected by the loss of his mother and the loneliness that followed, police said the exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be established. Further investigation is underway.
