Nagpur: In a significant crackdown under the “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite for a Drug-Free Society” campaign, the Crime Branch Unit 03 of Nagpur Police arrested two men for illegally possessing a large quantity of ganja. The operation is part of an ongoing drive against drug traffickers, handlers, and consumers initiated by the Nagpur Police Commissioner.

Acting on reliable information received late Sunday evening, police officials conducted a raid between 8:05 PM and 11:55 PM at an under-construction building in Nirmal Colony, Borkar Layout, within the jurisdiction of Jaripatka Police Station. During the search, officers found two suspects inside a first-floor room matching the description provided in the tip-off.

The accused were identified as Firoz Khan Sardar Khan (49) and Mohammad Shakeel Mohammad Bhuru (55), both residents of Nagpur. Following due legal procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and in the presence of witnesses, the police searched the premises and recovered 85 kilograms of ganja stored in nine sacks.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had procured the contraband from an associate, Harpitsingh alias Happy Jaswinder Singh Saini, who is currently absconding. They also admitted to using multiple vehicles for transporting and trading the drugs.
