Nagpur: A 19-year-old youth has been booked by New Kamptee police for allegedly stalking and repeatedly attempting to communicate with a 15-year-old Class 10 student in the Kamptee area.

According to the police, the minor girl was travelling to and from school when the accused, identified as Sheikh Nasir Sheikh Nazir (19), a resident of Chitranjan Nagar near Kamptee railway station, allegedly followed her and attempted to speak to her.

The incident reportedly took place on August 29, 2026, near the house of Sheikh Salman close to Abdul Shah Dargah in the New Kamptee police station area. The girl was studying at home when the accused allegedly came near her house and watched her.

When the girl’s father noticed the youth and called out to him, the accused allegedly fled from the spot.

The girl subsequently approached the police and reported that the accused’s conduct had caused her distress and made her feel uncomfortable.

Based on her complaint, New Kamptee police registered an FIR against Sheikh Nasir under Section 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
