Nagpur: As part of the city police’s intensified crackdown on narcotics, Operation Thunder continued its public outreach on Wednesday with an awareness programme organised in Toli Slum under the jurisdiction of Ajni Police Station. The event was held at 7 pm on November 26, 2025, under the initiative of the Police Commissioner to educate residents about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of prompt reporting.
DCP Niketan Kadam (Zone 4), Ajni Division officers including Police Inspector Narendra Hivre, Nitin Chandra Rajkumar, Mukund Kawade (Beltarodi Police Station), Pramod Pore, Vinayak Kodi, Hrudyanath Yadav, and PI Patil from Imamwada were present along with staff members. The officers interacted with men, women and youth in the locality, offering detailed information about narcotic substances and their impact on individuals and communities.
Residents were urged to immediately inform the police if they notice anyone consuming or selling drugs in the area. Officers assured the public that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential. During the programme, students who recently graduated were felicitated, while younger children were encouraged to pursue education and stay away from harmful influences.
The police highlighted that the primary objective of Operation Thunder and Operation U-Turn is to build strong awareness against drug abuse and spread the message of “Say No to Drugs” across society. Banners and hoardings were displayed to communicate the message visually.
Women, students and youth participated actively, adding momentum to the campaign. With spirited chants of “Say No to Drugs,” the programme successfully delivered a strong anti-narcotics message within the community.
