Nagpur: A 58-year-old woman was killed and her husband sustained serious injuries after a speeding tipper truck allegedly rammed their two-wheeler from behind in the Hudkeshwar area on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident took place around 2 pm on February 11, 2026, near Rakshak Super Market in Ingole Nagar under Hudkeshwar Police Station limits. The victims, Yashwant Rajaram Shende, 69, and his wife Asha Yashwant Shende, 58, residents of Gadgebaba Nagar, Nandanvan, were travelling on a Suzuki Access scooter (MH-49 BD-4133).

Police said the tipper truck (MH-49 AT-7372), coming from behind, was allegedly being driven at high speed in a rash and negligent manner. The heavy vehicle hit the scooter, causing both riders to fall and suffer critical injuries.

Passersby rushed the injured couple to Borkar Hospital, where doctors declared Asha Shende dead on arrival. Her husband is currently undergoing treatment.

Following a complaint lodged by their son, Shashank Yashwant Shende, 35, Hudkeshwar Police have registered a case against the tipper truck driver under Sections 106(1), 281, and 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Efforts are on to trace and apprehend the accused driver.

Police have initiated further investigation into the fatal road accident.
