Nagpur: The much-anticipated Wadi and Kamptee Road flyovers are now ready and will be opened to the public soon, according to the Public Works Department (PWD). While motorists have already started using the Wadi flyover, the residents of East Nagpur will have to wait longer for the completion of the Pardi flyover, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has further delayed its deadline to December.

An NHAI official has confirmed that the Manewada arm of the Pardi flyover is expected to be opened by the end of October or November. However, the Central Avenue arm is facing significant delays due to complications with utility shifting, pushing the entire project’s completion to December.

This is not the first time the deadline for the Pardi flyover has been extended. Initially, NHAI had promised to complete both the Manewada and Central Avenue arms by the end of August, which was later postponed to the end of September. Now, the completion date has been revised once again.

The Pardi flyover, which consists of five arms, has been plagued by delays since the beginning. Its bhoomipujan was performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2014, but actual construction did not begin until June 2016. Although three arms were opened for traffic in September 2023, progress has been slow due to various setbacks, including the collapse of ten girders on the Kalamna arm in October 2021, which significantly delayed the project.

As East Nagpur residents continue to face traffic woes, the focus remains on completing the remaining arms of the Pardi flyover, with NHAI officials assuring that work is being done to meet the new December deadline.
