Nagpur: A shocking case of fratricide surfaced under the jurisdiction of Nagpur City Police after an unemployed man allegedly murdered his younger brother following a dispute over work and livelihood in Hingna area of Nagpur district.
According to police, complainant Raibai Babulal Pandhram (60), a resident of Katangdhara village in Amgaon Devali under Hingna tehsil, stated that her two sons — Harishchandra Babulal Pandhram (34) and Shubham Babulal Pandhram (28) — frequently argued over Harishchandra’s unemployment.
Police said Shubham, who had separated from his wife after marriage four years ago, often advised his elder brother to start working. On May 22, 2026, at around 9 am, another argument broke out between the two brothers over the same issue. Their father intervened and asked Harishchandra to leave the house.
However, at around 12.30 am on May 23, while the family members were sleeping in the courtyard, Harishchandra allegedly attacked Shubham with a wooden stick while he was asleep. Police said the accused repeatedly struck Shubham on the head, leaving him critically injured and covered in blood. He died on the spot.
Based on the complaint, Hingna Police Station registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Vasant Shelmake initiated the investigation and police have detained the accused. Further investigation is underway.
