Nagpur: Two 18-year-old college students were killed on the spot after an unidentified truck allegedly rammed their scooter from behind on the Nagpur-Katol Road near Fetri Godown on Monday afternoon. The truck driver fled the scene following the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Ved Vinay Bobde (18), a resident of Vir Chakra Colony on Katol Road, and Atharva Ajay Thawre (18), a resident of Sadar, Nagpur.

According to police, the two students were travelling towards Mahurzari on a TVS Jupiter when the truck struck their two-wheeler near the Fetri Godown stretch. The impact sent both students and the scooter plunging into a deep roadside ditch. Both sustained fatal injuries and died at the spot.

After receiving information about the accident, personnel from Kalmeshwar Police rushed to the site along with an ambulance team led by emergency responder Mangesh Game. The bodies were recovered and shifted to Kalmeshwar Rural Hospital for post-mortem examination after completion of the necessary legal formalities.

Police have launched a search for the unidentified truck and its driver. Police Inspector Manoj Kalbande is supervising the investigation, while PSI Pravin Ghodam and other police personnel are working to trace the vehicle and driver involved in the fatal crash.
