NAGPUR: Two employees of a logistics company have been accused of stealing mobile phones and a wristwatch worth a total of ₹4.26 lakh from sealed parcels at the firm’s office in Nagpur. The alleged theft came to light after a parcel containing an empty mobile phone box was found, prompting an internal CCTV investigation.

The case was registered at Panchpaoli police station against the two accused, identified as Shoeb Afser Hussain, 28, and Nazir Sheikh, 21, both residents of Rehmat Nagar near Shahi Qabristan in Sister Colony Road, Chandrapur.

According to the complaint filed by Ayush Sanjeev Kohli, 29, an area manager with Elastic Run (Entex Transportation Private Limited), the incident came to light around 8 pm on October 24, when he found a mobile phone box without the handset inside. Suspecting theft, he checked the office’s CCTV footage.

During the examination, footage from October 13 allegedly showed one of the accused stealing a mobile phone from a sealed parcel while sorting shipments. When questioned, the employee reportedly admitted that both accused had committed the theft together.

The complainant subsequently examined the company’s system records to identify parcels that had arrived at the office over the preceding seven days but had not been delivered or accounted for.

The missing items were found to include five Samsung mobile phones worth ₹2,81,193, one Motorola handset worth ₹29,630, an HMD mobile phone worth ₹12,603, an iPhone 17 worth ₹82,352, a Nova mobile phone worth ₹15,227 and a Carlton wristwatch worth ₹5,000. The total value of the missing property was estimated at ₹4,26,005.

Based on the complaint, Panchpaoli police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
