NAGPUR: An unidentified burglar allegedly broke into a locked house near a church in Ward No. 4 of Khaparkheda and stole ₹70,000 in cash and gold ornaments collectively valued at ₹35,000. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at ₹1.05 lakh.

According to the police, the theft took place between 6 pm on October 26 and 1.30 pm on October 31, 2026, when the house owner, a 25-year-old man, was in Chennai, while his parents had travelled to Surat to visit their elder son. The family had locked the house before leaving.

Taking advantage of the family’s absence, the unidentified accused allegedly broke the lock on the main door, entered the house and targeted a Godrej cupboard in the bedroom. The burglar decamped with ₹70,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth ₹35,000.

Following a complaint by the house owner, Khaparkheda police registered a case against an unidentified accused under Sections 305(a), 331(3) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
