Nagpur: The Tehsil Police have apprehended a man who stole a gold biscuit worth approximately Rs 5,30,200 from his employer’s shop on New Itwari Road in Nagpur.

The complaint was filed by Sadashiv Suryawanshi (55), a resident of Laban Tanda, Sakkardara, who owns “Suryawanshi Refinery” near Sai Baba Bakery. On April 4, around 3:15 pm, his son briefly stepped out for lunch, during which time their employee, Sachin, allegedly stole a gold piece from the shop counter and fled. CCTV footage confirmed Sachin’s involvement.

During investigation, police traced suspects to Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur, and detained two men — Vaibhav Bhauso Malgave (30) and Jagannath Prakash Javeer (46). They confessed to the theft and revealed that the stolen gold was handed over to two accomplices: Chetan Prakash Javeer of Sangli and Prashant Mulik of Satara.

Police recovered the gold biscuit and arrested the accused under relevant sections of the BNS. Investigations revealed the gang operated across states by taking up jobs at jewellery stores and fleeing after committing thefts.

The operation was executed under the guidance of Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, and other senior officers. The police team included PI Shubhangi Deshmukh, PI Sandeep Bua, and others.
