Tehsil Police Arrest Man Carrying Deadly Knife on Burgman Scooter

Nagpur: Tehsil Police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly roaming with a deadly weapon in violation of prohibitory orders during late-night patrolling on Tuesday.


According to police, the incident took place around 1.05 am on May 27 near Mirza Galli behind Agrasen Bhavan. A police patrol team noticed a suspicious man riding a Suzuki Burgman scooter and intercepted him after a brief chase.


Upon questioning, the accused identified himself as Aarish Khan, son of Rashid Khan, a resident of Gandhi Bagh Khadan area in Nagpur.


During the search of the scooter bearing registration number MH-49-BQ-5310, police recovered an iron “hattimar” knife worth Rs 500 from the vehicle’s storage compartment. The police also seized the Burgman scooter along with the weapon, collectively valued at Rs 70,500.


Police stated that the accused was allegedly moving suspiciously while carrying the knife with the intention of committing a cognizable offence and had violated existing prohibitory orders.


Based on a complaint lodged by constable Anil Thakur, PSI Mahendra Wasnik of Tehsil Police Station registered a case against the accused under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
