Nagpur: A sudden spell of unseasonal rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms threw normal life out of gear in Nagpur on Wednesday night. The downpour led to severe waterlogging on major roads, traffic congestion, and widespread damage due to falling trees.

The Regional Meteorological Department had issued a rain forecast earlier in the day, which proved accurate when rain began around 7:30 pm. Within minutes, intense showers flooded city streets, forcing commuters to take shelter under flyovers and building canopies.

Strong winds uprooted several trees across different localities, damaging parked vehicles and obstructing traffic. Emergency services received multiple calls for assistance as residents struggled with power outages and blocked roads.

The Nagpur Police and the Fire and Emergency Services of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) were quick to respond, clearing roads and assisting citizens in affected areas.

Several outdoor events and wedding functions faced disruption due to the sudden rainfall, causing inconvenience to guests and organizers alike. According to weather officials, more rain is possible over the coming days.
