Nagpur: Pratap Nagar police have registered a case against a man and five others for allegedly trespassing into the office of an academy director, abusing and threatening him, and defaming the institute by uploading a video of the incident on social media over a fee refund dispute.
According to the police complaint, the complainant, Jitendra Indraman Tiwari, 34, a resident of Deshpande Layout in Vardhaman Nagar, is the director of IIT Inspire Academy of Science.
A student had reportedly secured admission to the academy after paying a fee of ₹20,000. After attending classes for around 15 days, her parents demanded a refund of the fee.
Following the dispute, the student’s relative allegedly arrived at the academy office along with five associates. The group allegedly entered the office without authorisation, abused Tiwari and threatened to kill him while demanding a full refund.
The accused also allegedly threatened Tiwari’s father outside the office, warning that they would implicate the family in a false case and force the institute to shut down.
The complainant further alleged that the group recorded a video of the incident and uploaded it on social media, thereby damaging his and the institution’s reputation.
Based on Tiwari’s complaint, Pratap Nagar police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
