Sohail Khan Murder: Wanted Accused from Mankapur Case Nabbed by Nagpur Crime Branch

Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 2 has apprehended a wanted accused involved in the brutal murder of Sohail Khan that occurred in Mankapur area on April 3, 2025. The incident, which stemmed from a dispute over weekly market shop space, had also left another individual critically injured.


On the night of the attack, accused Bhushan alias Balya Bahad, along with Gajendra Markam and Dhiraj Ghodmare, conspired to kill Sohail Khan near Raj Tower, Mahakal Juice Center, Mankapur. The group opened fire using a pistol and also stabbed Sohail multiple times, killing him on the spot. His friend Mohammad Sultan was also shot at and grievously injured. Sultan is currently undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital.


A case under Sections 103, 109, 3(5) of BNS, along with Sections 3/25, 4/25, 27 of the Arms Act, and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, was registered at Mankapur Police Station. Accused Bhushan, Gajendra, and Dhiraj were arrested soon after the incident.


On April 8, 2025, while patrolling, officers from Crime Branch Unit 2 received intelligence about the presence of another wanted accused, Ankit Umashankar Usarbarse (27), near Mahalgi Nagar Square in Hudkeshwar area. The team swiftly acted, surrounded the location, and successfully apprehended Ankit. He was handed over to Mankapur Police for further investigation.


The operation was conducted under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, with the team led by API Shubhangi Deshmukh.
