RPF Nagpur Seizes 24.8 kg Ganja Worth ₹3.72 Lakh at Railway Station

Nagpur: In a major crackdown under Operation Ananat, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Nagpur Post, seized a large quantity of narcotic substance valued at ₹3.72 lakh under the provisions of the NDPS Act at Nagpur Railway Station.


Acting on the directions of the Inspector, a Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) team comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Pankaj Sharma, Head Constable Rahul Raut, and Constables Jasbir Singh and Harvinder Singh was deployed for surveillance and crime prevention at Platform No. 01.


During routine checking, the RPF team noticed a suspicious man sitting near OHE Pole No. 1042/27 at the Itarsi end of Platform No. 01, close to the Mahananda Milk Dairy. The man was carrying a red trolley bag and a purple bag, both of which appeared unusually heavy. On questioning, he identified himself as a 28-year-old resident of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh and admitted that the bags contained narcotic substances.


Senior officers were immediately alerted, and after obtaining necessary permission, seizure proceedings were carried out at the spot in the presence of RPF officers, independent panch witnesses, a weighing officer, as well as a photographer and videographer. Upon inspection, nine packets wrapped in khaki tape containing suspected ganja were recovered from the bags.


The total weight of the seized contraband was found to be 24.800 kg, with an estimated market value of ₹3.72 lakh. After completing all legal formalities, the accused along with the seized narcotic substance was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Nagpur, for further legal action.


Further investigation in the case is underway.
