Nagpur: A 50-year-old man was killed after being hit by a speeding truck in the MIDC Police Station area on April 2 night.

The accident occurred around 9:45 pm on Sangam Road, in front of Mama Savji Bhojanalay, while the victim, Mohan Kishan Rasekar (50), a resident of Sairam Chowk, Wanadongri, was walking towards Wanadongri from the Dental College side.

Police said that a truck bearing registration number MH-46 AF-6685, allegedly driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, hit the pedestrian, causing fatal injuries. Rasekar died on the spot.

Following a complaint lodged by Ajay Narayanrao More (50), a resident of Ganesh Colony, Wanadongri, MIDC Police have registered a case against the truck driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
