Nagpur: Rana Pratap Nagar Police cracked two major theft cases, arresting a domestic help involved in a jewellery burglary worth over ₹6.8 lakh and three youths, including a minor, for stealing mobile phones in separate incidents.

Jewellery Theft Case

The first case was reported by Dr. Leena Rahul Nemade (37), a resident of Pandurang Gawande Layout, Rana Pratap Nagar. She had taken jewellery worth ₹5.46 lakh from her bank locker to wear during her son’s birthday celebrations on June 7, 2025. After using them, she kept the ornaments in her bedroom cupboard on June 8. However, when she checked on June 14, the valuables, including gold and platinum ornaments—necklaces, bangles, mangalsutra, tops, and chains—were missing.

Following her complaint, police launched a probe and questioned three domestic helps working at her home. During sustained interrogation, one of them, identified as Pari Shrikant Bhujade (30), a resident of Swavalambi Nagar, confessed to committing the theft. Police recovered stolen jewellery weighing 98.5 grams, valued at ₹6.89 lakh, from her possession.

Mobile Theft Case

In another case, complainant Abhishek Ramaji Dhurve (19) of Khapri Slums, Rana Pratap Nagar, reported that two of his mobile phones—one Oppo and one Popo—were stolen while they were kept on charge inside his house between August 26 and 27, 2025. Unknown thieves had entered through an open door and committed the theft.

On September 1, during patrolling, police chased three suspicious persons riding a moped near Survenagar, in front of Bharat Gas Agency. They were identified as Ritesh Sureshkumar Vishwakarma (21), a resident of Bhimnagar; Suyog Pramod Shende (19), of Subhash Nagar; and a minor accomplice. On searching them, police recovered five mobile phones of different brands. During interrogation, they admitted to the mobile theft. Police also seized the Hero Destiny moped (MH 27 DP 7219) used in the crime. The total seizure was valued at ₹1.17 lakh.
