Nagpur: In a surprising turn of events, a police sub-inspector (PSI) from Hudkeshwar Police Station has lodged a complaint, alleging that he was assaulted by Nagpur South MLA Mohan Mate. However, CCTV footage reviewed by the police from the scene did not corroborate the incident, raising questions about the veracity of the PSI’s claims.

The incident reportedly occurred on September 5, Friday, when MLA Mohan Mate was on his way to inaugurate a green gym. According to the complaint by PSI Shyam Kanojia, Mate confronted him over a rental dispute, which then escalated into an alleged physical altercation. The issue began when Gajendra Mohadikar, a local resident, informed the MLA that PSI Kanojia had not vacated his rental house and failed to pay rent for 7-8 months. At the time, PSI Kanojia was walking his dog and was approached by Mate for an explanation.

Following the interaction, Kanojia filed a complaint at Hudkeshwar Police Station, claiming that Mate slapped him. However, Senior Inspector Gyaneshwar Bhedodkar, after reviewing CCTV footage from the area, stated that no evidence of such an assault was found. The police advised PSI Kanojia to undergo a medical examination to support his claim, but he declined the recommendation.

In response, MLA Mate’s supporters, including former corporator Pintu Jhalke, have lodged a counter-complaint against PSI Kanojia. The allegations and the contradictory evidence have sparked a debate, questioning the motives behind the sub-inspector's accusations.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
