Nagpur: As part of the ongoing “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite for a Drug-Free Society,” Lakadganj police arrested a man for allegedly selling ganja from an e-rickshaw near Amardeep Talkies.
Based on credible information, the police laid a trap and conducted a raid between 1.20 am and 4.15 am on January 3. During the operation, police intercepted an e-rickshaw bearing registration number MH-49 BM 9931 and detained its occupant, identified as Firoz Munna Khan (42), a resident of Vajpayee Nagar near Buddha Vihar, Kalamna.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 1.851 kg of ganja concealed inside a school bag placed beneath the driver’s seat. Police also seized a mobile phone and the e-rickshaw used for transporting the contraband. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 97,100.
The accused was arrested and booked at Lakadganj police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Police said further investigation is in progress to trace the supply chain
