Crime Branch Unit 3 Cracks Three Theft Cases, Arrests Trio; Stolen E-Rickshaw Batteries Recovered

Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit No. 3 of the Nagpur City Police has arrested three accused involved in theft cases and solved three crimes with the recovery of stolen property worth Rs 1.40 lakh. The arrests were made during the investigation of a theft reported from the Wathoda police station limits.


According to police, between November 18, 2025, at 11 am and November 19, 2025, at 11.30 am, unknown thieves stole four rechargeable Eastman company batteries worth Rs 60,000 from an e-rickshaw parked outside the house of complainant Pankaj Jaydev Lakade (24) at Plot No. 172, Jalaram Nagar, near Vidyavikas High School, Nagpur. Based on the complaint, Wathoda police had registered a case against unknown persons under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.


During parallel investigation and patrolling, Crime Branch Unit 3 acted on reliable information and detained three suspects: Danish Ali Arshad Ali (20) of Hasanbagh, Sahil Ali alias Gujjar Mustaq Ali (19) of Hasanbagh, and Syed Salman Syed Jalal (19) of Yashodharanagar, Nagpur. During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the theft in collusion with their associate Sohel Khatmal, a resident of Hasanbagh.


Police recovered an Activa moped (MH-40-CB-8320) used in the crime and the four stolen Eastman batteries. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 1.40 lakh. Further questioning revealed that the accused were also involved in thefts within the Hudkeshwar and Nandanvan police station limits. In total, three theft cases have been solved.


The accused have been handed over to Wathoda police along with the recovered property for further legal action. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindrakumar Singhal, Additional Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and Assistant Commissioner (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil.


The action was executed by Police Inspector Mahesh Sagade, API Santosh Singh Thakur, and Head Constables Vinod Gaiakwad and Chandrashekhar Dekate. Further investigation is in progress.
