Nagpur: High drama unfolded in Prabhag 13 during the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections after candidate Kisan Gawande was allegedly confined inside his own house by his supporters to prevent him from withdrawing his nomination. The incident triggered chaos in the area and drew attention to the internal turmoil within the party ranks.

According to sources, the party leadership had instructed Kisan Gawande to withdraw from the NMC election fray. The directive reportedly upset his followers, who were unhappy with the decision and feared losing their political foothold in the ward. In a bid to stop the withdrawal, the supporters allegedly locked Gawande inside his residence.

The situation remained tense for some time as local supporters gathered outside the house. However, Gawande later managed to pacify his followers and assured them of addressing their concerns. Following his intervention, the lock was removed and the situation returned to normal.

Subsequently, Kisan Gawande proceeded to formally withdraw his nomination from the NMC elections, in line with the party’s instructions. No police complaint has been reported in connection with the incident so far.

The episode highlights the intense political rivalry and pressure faced by candidates during the NMC elections, particularly in closely contested wards such as Prabhag 13.
