Nagpur: A cashier at Naivedyam Hotel in Jhansi Rani Square has been booked for defrauding the hotel of ₹9.95 lakh by manipulating accounts. The incident, which occurred within the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police Station, was uncovered when CCTV footage revealed the accused, Rahul Sukhand Bhimte, a resident of Kirnapur, Balaghat, taking cash home.
On May 31, hotel manager Yashwant Meshram grew suspicious of Rahul’s activities and shared his concerns with another manager, Narayan Wadatkar. Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, Rahul was seen pocketing cash from the counter.
A subsequent audit of the hotel’s bills from November 2022 to May 2024 revealed that Rahul had manipulated bills amounting to ₹24.90 lakh, reducing them to ₹18.43 lakh. Additionally, he had reprinted bills worth ₹3.49 lakh. Through these fraudulent activities, Rahul managed to embezzle ₹9.95 lakh.
Based on a complaint filed by Wadatkar, Dhantoli Police have registered a case against Rahul under sections 408, 418, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and launched an investigation.
