Nagpur: Two Arrested with MD Powder Worth ₹3.8 Lakh in Mankapur Hotel Raid

Nagpur: In a major anti-narcotics action, Mankapur Police arrested two youths in possession of MD (mephedrone) powder worth ₹3.8 lakh during a raid at Hotel Divine, Ring Road, early Tuesday morning.


Acting on a tip-off, police raided Room Nos. 102 and 103 of the hotel around 3:45 am on July 8. During the search, two accused—Adnan Sarwar Khan (23) of Plot No. 38, near Ekminar Masjid, Thakur Plot, Motha Tajbagh, and Taufiq Matin Sheikh (24) of Plot No. 8, Baba Taj Nagar, Bhawani Housing Society, Hudkeshwar—were caught red-handed.


Police recovered 21 grams of MD powder worth ₹2.10 lakh from Adnan and 17 grams worth ₹1.70 lakh from Taufiq. Additionally, ₹1,010 in cash, other drug paraphernalia, and a white Ford car bearing registration number MH 31 EA 0350 were seized, bringing the total value of seized material to ₹5,81,240.


Upon interrogation, both accused revealed that they sourced the MD powder from their absconding associates—Mohammad Owais Sheikh of Hasanbagh and Sahil Memon of Tajbagh. The accused admitted they were in possession of the narcotics for personal profit.


A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Mankapur Police Station. Both accused have been arrested, and further investigation is in progress.


This successful operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional CP (North Region) Rajendra Dabhade, DCP (Zone 2) Nityanand Jha, and ACP (Sadar Division) Sunita Meshram, led by PI Harish Kalsekar and his investigation team.
