Nagpur: The Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 1 conducted a raid in the Wadi police station area and arrested four individuals for gambling with playing cards in a public place.
Based on reliable information, Crime Branch officials carried out a raid at around 4:30 pm on March 8 in Shivaji Nagar, Dakhani Mohalla, in front of SP Enterprises. During the raid, police found the accused gambling by placing money bets on card games.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
- Shrikant Prakash Boratule (19), resident of Ramji Chowk, Wadi
- Rahul Wamanrao Thakre (31), resident of Vakratunda Society, Wadi
- Harish Santosh Naiknavare (25), resident of Shivaji Nagar, Wadi
- Vaibhav Dilip Neware (30), resident of Shivaji Nagar, Wadi
Police seized ₹3,000 in cash, four mobile phones, two two-wheelers, playing cards and other gambling materials, collectively valued at ₹1,85,050.
A case has been registered against the accused at Wadi Police Station under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act. The accused, along with the seized property, have been handed over to the Wadi police for further investigation.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar and ACP (Crime) Abhijit Patil.
The raid was carried out by PI Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar, API Sachin Bhonde, Rajabhau Jadhav and their team.
