Nagpur: In a major operation against illegal hookah parlours, the Nagpur City Police, under the special drive ‘Operation Thunder’, raided three establishments on the same day and apprehended a total of 36 individuals, including owners, staff, and customers here, in the wee hours of Sunday, June 1. The action was taken under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal and led by Police Inspector (NDPS) along with the Anti-Narcotics Cell.
The raids led to the seizure of hookah equipment and related materials worth ₹1,49,430.
Raids Conducted at Three Locations:
- Fursh Café and Lounge – Gokulpeth, Sitabuldi Police Jurisdiction During the raid, 28 individuals were found smoking hookah. Police seized 14 hookah pots, flavoured tobacco, gas cylinders, pipes, and other equipment valued at ₹30,000.
- Hash Café – Near Laxmi Bhavan Square, Ambazari Police Jurisdiction. Six people were caught smoking hookah at this location. The police confiscated 15 hookah pots, 13 chillums, 22 pipes, hookah flavours, a laptop, and other accessories worth ₹72,370.
- LSD Café – Near Square, Ambazari Police Jurisdiction. Two individuals, including the owner and a worker, were found on the premises. A total of 17 hookah pots, 33 pipes, hookah flavours, a laptop, and other materials were seized, collectively worth ₹47,060.
Total Seizure and Action:
Across all three locations, 36 people were detained and goods worth ₹1,49,430 were confiscated. The operations were executed by Police Inspector Mr. Gulhane and the Anti-Narcotics Cell in coordination with Sitabuldi and Ambazari Police Stations.
Public Appeal:
Nagpur Police have once again appealed to citizens to report any information related to illegal hookah parlours or drug use and trafficking. Informants’ identities will be kept strictly confidential.
